Once called the "Thoreau of the Adirondacks", American artist Harold Weston is best known for his thickly painted, expressionistic views of the Adirondacks from the 1920’s. Join Shelburne Museum associate curator Katie Wood Kirchhoff for an exploration of Weston’s 20th-century paintings, journals, and related ephemera while considering the ways that Weston’s art and practice connected the natural world to the boundless freedom of the human spirit. This lecture, sponsored by the Stowe Free Library, is free of charge, and is made possible by a grant from the Copley Fund.
